Auto enter password via shortcut when opening excel file?

    Hi

I have excel file that is locked with the password. Is it possible to add shortcut on desktop that would start this file and auto enter password so the user does not need to write it.

    THank you

    Do YOU have the password???
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

    Hi,

I don't see how that code would help you. It would need to be in the workbook you are opening and you would have to supply the password before the code could run. What you might do is create another workbook that automatically opens the workbook in question, supplying the password, and then create a shortcut to the second workbook instead of the original one.

All you need is this in the ThisWorkbook module of another workbook

making the appropriate adjustments to file path and password, then save it as a macro-enabled workbook and point the shortcut at that.
