    get closer to End Home

    I have a 3-column spreadsheet, A through C. At some point I had something in column P that I subsequently deleted. Although I have long forgotten it, my spreadsheet never has forgotten that there used to be something out there. When I click End Home, I want to go to the last row of column C, but I go to column P. I tried deleting the empty columns D through P, but End Home still takes me to column P. Is there a way I can define where End Home should be?

    try
    - select the "data area" only (only rows with data, only columns with data) - ie from cell A1 to last cell with data in column C
    - copy & paste to a new sheet
    - now try {END} {HOME}
    - if OK, then delete original sheet

    Thanks, Kev_, for your suggested solution which I did not actually try as, "unfortunately," my situation resolved itself, perhaps automatically when I added a few more rows of data. Now End Home takes me right where it should.

    The changes that you mentioned, i.e. deleting the empty columns (and rows), will only take effect when you save the workbook.

    Hope this helps.

    .

    TRY THE FOLLOWING ON A COPY OF YOUR WORKBOOK FIRST !

    You can highlight Cols D - P and click DELETE.

    You can highlight Cols D - P and click CLEAR CONTENTS.

    You can copy Cols A - C and paste to a new workbook.

    Thanks, Pete. I am sure that I must have saved the workbook, not knowing that it would complete the process of limiting my area.

    Thanks to everyone for your interest and your helpful replies. I believe that now all of my problems are solved. Well, actually just that one specifically in Excel.
