Very cheeky request here....
I have volunteered to compile 70 yeard worth of cricket scores and asssociated data and averages. Does anyone have anything remotely appropriate to help me in my quest?!
Thanks

Hi Matt and welcome to the forum.
Bit of an open question there... Depends what you mean by help. What exactly are you after?
BSB
I think Matt is after a ready-made spreadsheet or template. There are a few freebies online that he will find if he Googles.

Have you started putting any sort of format together yet? If so, can we see it, and if you, you might want to consider starting something, so we can see where you are going
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools

I wonder in what format the data is currently is? matt mentions that he has been asked to compile the stats, so seeing them as they are at the moment would help. Unless, that is, they are all in paper format ...
Morning all, and thank you for your replies. Apologies for the vague nature of my OP I was in a rush!
I have 70 years worth of cricket scorebooks, all laid out in the traditional way. What I need to do is add each individual to the spreadsheet, with his associated performances on a game by game basis.
I would like to be able to extrapolate notable performances, how many times a player has reached 50, 100, or taken 5 wickets etc.
This will be a fairly mammoth task to do from scratch and my excel knowledge probably wont stretch to starting from scratch.
I have a feeling that unless someone already has something and understands how the data needs to be inputted, and an understanding of cricketing statistics, (apologies, I dont know if any of you do or not!)
I may be fighting a losing battle!
Thanks again
Matt
I used to score for the staff cricket team at my school, so I have an idea. As I said before, there are a few freebies out there, and so I would be inclined to get one of them, see how you go with it and then, if you need help adapting it, come back and ask here. One thing is for certain: nobody is going to build this for you from scratch.![]()
So: for each match played, input the following
Opposition
Venue
Each batsmans score (to then add to a cumulative tally)
Whether he/she scored 50 or 100
Out or not out
Team total and loss of wickets
Each bowlers bowling figures, wickets, runs conceded, overs bowled, maidens bowled
Main opposition data (runs scored and wickets conceded)
I would like an easy way of creating a new input for each 'new' player so that when he/she plays, it adds 1 appearance.
I can then sort the data to see who has played the most games, who has scoed the most runs, who has scored the most ducks, who has taken the most wickets, etc etc etc.
I hope this makes sense.
Thanks again.
Thanks for your reply. I wll start online and maybe develop it myself, and see how it goes. I am being very cheeky, and I know I am asking a big favour of somebody to share something they may have developed themselves.... but nothing ventured nothing gained!
If you would like it building from scratch, then you could always post in the commercial services section and offer a payment, but I think starting with one of those freebies will get you where you want to be.![]()
Thank you so much, I will have a look. Do you have any cricket specific stat websites I could have a look at? Quick google obviosuly opens upo a whole host of options, but any recommendations would be useful!
Matt - Google is your friend:

Find something you like and then come back for help to adapt it.
