    Importing from web

Hello - I am trying to import from a web page - I usually do that by going to Data....>From Web. I then get a small form where I can type the URL, and I choose which sections of the web page I want to import/

Just today, this functionality has changed in Excel. When I click on "From Web", the design is totally different.

Any idea how I can the older version back?

    Thanks

    Re: Importing from web

    Hi gtg430i,

What version of Excel are you using? In newer versions of Excel the process is completely different. Did you upgrade to a newer version recently?

Also - web pages change all the time and you may be seeing the site has changed the way they present data. If this is the case, the web tables may be missing or moved and your import function looks different.
One test is worth a thousand opinions.

    Re: Importing from web

Hello - I am using Excel 2016. I am not sure if it updates automatically, because I have not and did not change the version I am using.

It s not about the web pages which I agree with you they change from time to time, but it s just the steps to import from web in Excel have changed.

I am stuck now, it s not working as I want to anymore. I usually go to import from web than I enter the site URL. I then enter login credentials so I can access the data I need. Now it s returning an errorImfrweb.jpg
    Imfrweberror.jpg

    Please see attached.

    Thanks

    Re: Importing from web

Good day - Any suggestion on how to get around this?

The website I am trying to get data from is www.manheim.com. I have a log in credentials. I usually enter my logins when I open the import from web window.

No the import from web too tries to open a retired and non existing site:

: "Web.Contents failed to get contents from 'http://www.manheim.com/exporttrader

    I hope you can assist.

    Thank You,

    Re: Importing from web

    Hi gtg,

Searching the net I find these links:

    https://social.technet.microsoft.com...rum=powerquery

    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/...n-after-authen

I have never worked on this problem before but from the above links, it looks like Power Query doesn't do this yet.
I'd try to get to the website and login with your correct information manually and then see if PQ can access the data. Other than that, I have no ideas.

If you find an answer, please tell us how you did it and help others with this same problem.

    Re: Importing from web

Hello - Thank you for trying to help.

It all started when the import from web functionality has changed in Excel.

It will not work I must login from the import from web window.

I wil check the links you provided, if I can figure it out I will definitely post the solution.

    Thank You
