Matching or merging columns from one sheet to another based on standardized number

I'm working through some data in which I have the following:
Sheet 1 Contains a column of group names (in Column A) where each row has several columns of information attached to each group name (Columns C-F). Each of those group names has an individual standardized code attached (Column B).
In Sheet 2 I have the same group names from Column A from Sheet 1 spread through Columns A-E, each has a corresponding column that tags the standardized number to each of the group names.

I need to merge the Several columns of information that attaches to the group names and standardized number from Sheet 1 to the standardized numbers (across multiple columns, or one at a time) in Sheet 2.

There are thousands of entries, so I'd like to avoid doing it manually. Oddly this is something I've come to need several times, some people have recommended VLookup and I've done a lot of looking around the forums to see if this is possible in excel.

Any suggestions? I can provide some screen shots or more details if that's useful.

Will you please attach a SMALL sample Excel workbook (10-20 rows of data is usually enough)? Please don't attach a picture of one (no-one will want to re-type all your stuff before starting).

    1. Make sure that your sample data are truly REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired solution is also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential information is removed first!!

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells. They cause lots of problems!

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment. So, to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: Just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.
