Alternate to Max Formula

i need to use large formula with multiple criterias like LARGE((J9+K9*J8,M9+N9*M8),1) but it returns error.
I know same can be used within Max function but its slowing down my workbook as it has lot of criterias.
What could be the correct format to use the above criterias within large function.
