Using arrow keys within a cell

Hi,

I have an MBP and running the retail version 15.32 of MS 2017. When I have a cell which already has content in it I can use cmd+2 to enter the cell, but when I try to use my arrow keys to move the cursor within the cell, it doesn't allow me to do that (just some times), the other times it just switches cells. If I use an older version of excel no problem.

Why is this the case? Is there a workaround?

I used to have Office365, but I uninstalled it and installed a retail version, could it have something to do with that?

I'm not sure if it's applicable with a MBP, but in windows you can go to File > Options > Advanced Options and then check off "Allow editing directly in cells", which would solve your issue.

I found what you're talking about (Excel -> preferences -> view -> edit directly in cell) when I check it off I can't use cmd+2 to edit the content, which makes sense. I'm looking to edit in cell but be able to move the cursor wihtout having to use my mouse.
