Exclamation Customer list phone number got all mixed up

So I have a File A with a complete list of (By column) customer codes, customer names, ..., ..., phone numbers, fax numbers, ..., ...

When I sorted them all alphabetically, I must have not selected the phone numbers columns because they are now all mixed up.

I have 4 other files with the customer codes, customer names, and correct phone numbers but each file has 1/4 of the customers.

Is there a way I can copy from those smaller lists, and paste into the File A and it can find the correct customer codes and paste the correct phone numbers in the corresponding column?

UPDATE: The file attached is an example of what I have. Sheet 1 is the sheet I want to put the correct phone numbers into, Sheet 2 and 3 are examples of the other files I have with the correct phone numbers corresponding to the correct customer names/codes.

You haven't given us much to go on...

Will you please attach a SMALL sample Excel workbook (10-20 rows of data is usually enough)? Please don't attach a picture of one (no-one will want to re-type all your stuff before starting).

    1. Make sure that your sample data are truly REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired solution is also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential information is removed first!!

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells. They cause lots of problems!

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment. So, to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: Just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Thank you for your suggestions! I attached a file with a mock up of what I have.

You can combine the four lists into one long list and then do vooklups. For an explanation of vlookups: https://support.office.com/en-us/art...8-93a18ad188a1

In K2, copied across and down:

    =IFERROR(VLOOKUP($A2,Sheet2!$A$2:$J$7,COLUMNS($A:I),0),VLOOKUP($A2,Sheet3!$A$2:$J$7,COLUMNS($A:I),0))

Thank you so much! I just noticed that the custoemr contact column was also mixed up. would you be able to remake that formula with the contact column as well? I updated the file in my original post to reflect the costumer contact.

Re: Customer list phone number got all mixed up

    =VLOOKUP($A2,Sheet2!$A$2:$J$7,COLUMNS($A:H),0)

with IFERROR and another vlookup component added on as well for each of the other sheets (there were only 2 sheets in your latest version...

    So, probably:
    =IFERROR(iferror(iferror(VLOOKUP($A2,Sheet2!$A$2:$J$7,COLUMNS($A:H),0),VLOOKUP($A2,Sheet3!$A$2:$J$7,COLUMNS($A:H),0),VLOOKUP($A2,Sheet3!$A$2:$J$7,COLUMNS($A:H),0),VLOOKUP($A2,Sheet4!$A$2:$J$7,COLUMNS($A:H),0))

    to cover all four sheets...

Sorry I should have said that I was planning to copy and paste them all into one sheet and then use the formula to paste it over to the first sheet

OK. So the formula at the top of my last post should be OK for you.
