Prints perfect from other computers... not from mine

    Hi there,

Ok. So the issue is that when I print from my computer, not all the data prints for me. From about 2/3 the way of Column "M" the data doesn't completely print. No cell borders. No text. The colors I have applied to the rows are still present in all columns when printed except for rows from 1-17.

When I print the exact same spreadsheet from another computer in the office, on the same printer, with the same drivers... it prints fine.

I've tried all kinds of page break, print area, scaling, margins etc.

Any idea what the issue is? Any help is much appreciated.

I think I succeeded in attaching the native file and the scan of what prints.

    Thanks,

    Rusto.

Select data range which you print.
    Go to print selection print

Re: Prints perfect from other computers... not from mine

You mentioned its the same printer and same driver. Have you confirmed the driver versions? Is it the same version and build of Excel on both computers? Same zoom level on both computers?

As an alternative try saving to or "printing" to PDF or XPS. If that comes out fine then its down to printer settings on that computer or driver. If that too is messed up thats another story. Also as a work around, if PDF/XPS works trying then physically printing the PDF or XPS and see how it comes out.

You could ensure both computers are using same DPI scaling in windows as I have seen this cause issues. Sometimes, changing to a non aero theme can resolve the issue. You could compare Excel Options across the 2 to see if there are different options on one that may cause the problem.

    Hope this helps

    @Zer0Cool

Thanks for the advice. I "printed" to xps. Worked perfect. Printed said xps. Worked fine.

Tried messing with the drive for the printer to the exact version etc. of the other computers. Still having the same issues printing directly from the native spreadsheet.

Just found out that 2/4 computers in our office are doing this.

Still searching for a fix, though. This is not the only spreadsheet that I'm having this issue with. It's happening with another as well.

Any additional ideas are very welcome. Thanks for the support thus far.

If possible uninstall/reinstall printer. Ensure all stations are using same DPI scaling. Ensure all are on the same set of Windows updates (presuming they are the same versions of Windows). Try a different Windows user account that has not been used on each station (minor corruption in Win profile?), could be a new test account presuming you are able to do this.

You could try running a repair on office on the machines having the issue. Clear %TEMP% and do disk cleanup on them. You could try printing from Excel in safe mode. If safe mode works may be an addin thats causing the issue.

If possible try a different physical printer. The PDF/XPS working via print option may confirm it as specifically an issue with that physical printer. You could further confirm if it works on another physical printer for all machines.

My last thought is if it happens in other files to what extent? All files, only some? If only some then maybe there is a feature, layout, option specific to them that causes it. Do they have anything in common? Same relative save location, all versions of the same parent file, some advanced feature (pivots, charts, data connection, etc) they all use, etc.

By chance do you have more than one version of Excel installed on the same computers? I had this problem a week ago and it was a conflict between Office Pro 2010 and standalone Excel 2013 installed on the same machine.

No. Only one version of Office Installed.

My laptop is running Windows 10. The others are running XP, I believe.

I already tried multiple instances of uninstall/installing the printer. And have tried multiple drivers for the printer. The printer is a Canon IR C5240.

I'm going to try running the repair on office and clearing the %TEMP%. If that doesn't work we'll try safe mode. I'll keep ya'll posted.

Thanks a million for all the help. This has been so frustrating. Glad to know I have some options.

Yes. Paper format is the same. Just got off of support with Microsoft. So painful. Office specialist says it's a windows problem. Sends me to a windows specialist. Windows specialist says it's an office program, sends me back to an office specialist... so frustrating.

Still have not found a fix for this.

Re: Prints perfect from other computers... not from mine

At this point it seems its not as black & white as an issue with a program, windows, the printer or the file(s). It has to be some combination.

Can you confirm if this happens to all Excel files (with enough content to span a full page) or only certain ones. That is where I would start. If its not all files then part of the issue is in the file(s). A file specific setting, corrupt style, object on the sheet (invisible box, shape, image etc), etc. Look for something that the files may share in common having the issue. Next I would confirm that all machines are running the same exact version and build of Excel (not just year version, build number). If they are not you may find a pattern (newer versions have the issue, older versions have the issue) and can take action to roll back or apply updates as needed.

Also you did not mention if you checked and verified all computers are set to the same DPI settings, it may seem far fetched but I have seen it be the culprit many times at work.

Also confirm all computers have the same printer settings...not in Excel but according to the printer settings themselves. Sometimes default printer settings can override the application settings.

Not sure there is much more I can contribute, sorry. Best of luck.

OK. Fixed it. Uninstall ALL printers. Uninstall ALL drivers. Restart computer. Download latest/greatest printer install package from Canon's website. Run install program. Restart computer. Fixed.

Thanks for all the input, all. Much appreciated.
