Hi Guys, I'm a newb on this forum, I'm really hoping i can get an answer as this issue has had me stumped for nearly two years now.
I am an Engineer working on the rail infrastructure. I use excel to view Ascii files taken from a total station to monitor movements of the track before, after and during works that may affect the safe passage of trains.
When i was using a macbook pro with snow leopard OSX i never had this problem, but since i have been using El Capitan every time i try to export a .csv or .txt file to my total station i get the warning that the file is in Binary and cannot be read.
i understand most of you will read this and think I'm talking in riddles but I'm hoping there might be someone that has the same issue.
I will be send a file of coordinates and i need to get them into my instrument, i will open the file in Excel then save as a .csv or .txt
I then have to drag the file onto a SD card, write a program in the total station and import data from the original file (that i converted) to the file i wrote on the instrument as a ASCII file, however! all i get is the warning: This file is binary and therefore not possible to view this file..... HELP!!!
