Need access to drop down list on protected sheet.

I have a sheet that needs certain columns to be locked so the sheet has to be protected. But when the sheet is protected, i can no longer use any drop down lists. does anyone know how to get around this to be able to use the drop down lists. thanks in advance.

You need to Unprotect the sheet first, with a password if necessary, then select the cell with the drop-down and right-click and choose Format Cells | Protection tab and unclick Locked then OK. You need to do this for each cell with a drop-down, then you can Protect the sheet again (with a password if required). You should now be able to use the drop-downs in those cells.

The cells with drop downs are not locked when the sheet is protected. i can still click into the cell, just cannot use the drop down.
