hello all I need help with conditional formatting: I have two columns, column A shows serial numbers assigned, coulmn B is the date the item ships out, I want to conditionally format so that one day ahead of the schedule date if column A is blank, no serial number, the field in column A turns red, how would I write this?

Tomorrow is 2/7/2017

Column A column B

Serial numbers schedule date
1 01/16/17
2 02/04/17
3 02/03/17
4 02/03/17
blank 02/07/17
blank 02/07/17

Thanks for your help

Re: conditional formatting help

so all I want to do is have J2 turn red if it is blank one day before the schedule date. so the schedule date is 2/8/2017 and today is 2/7/2017, since there is not serial number in j2 it should turn red.

Re: conditional formatting help

Maybe this...
=and(A2="",today()-1=M2)
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools

Re: conditional formatting help

What is in A2 anyway, is it an entry or a formula?

Ok so here is the exact sheet I am working on. the task I need to do is if one day before the schedule date, N2, the serial field is blank, J2, then J2 should turn red. so for that first row, the schedule date is 2/8/2017, today being 2/7/2017 the cell should turn red since it has no serial number.

Re: conditional formatting help

upload a small (clean) sample workbook (not a pic) of what you are working with, and what your expected outcome would look like.

Re: conditional formatting help

I suppose you want this. Try in FC te following formula

Formula: copy to clipboard
=AND(J2="",TODAY()+1=M2)
