General help please ??

In our schools we have Windows 10 running the 64 bit version on various models of laptops. What we are experiencing, is that if we open a spreadsheet (office 2016) and then closing it, come to open a new spreadsheet we get the dreaded circle of doom !!
I have run the repair that Microsoft insist you do to no avail.

Any body have any ideas please ???
