Returing a negative or posivtive value based on certain critera

Hello

Im after a little help please. Im trying to get a number changed to a negative or stay as a positive based on certain critera.

Ive attached a spreadsheet, in column a is the criteria and column b is the current value. Column C, D, and E are attempts ive already made. If it sayas debit in column A I need the value to be negative, which ive been able to achive. But if it says Credit I need it to remain a positive.

Any help would be appreciated.

Check if column A = "Debit" and if so, multiply the value by -1, else use the value
