    Table Shading Won't change

I have an Excel Table, which has every other row shaded in gray (see Pic). I want to change the row shading to a different color, so in the Design tab I change to a different Style. This changes my column border colors, but does NOT change my row shading, the gray remains. What do I need to do to change the row shading?

How can we see what settings you have applied from a picture?

Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook? Please don't attach a picture of one.

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired solution is also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential information is removed first!!

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells. They cause lots of problems!

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment. So, to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: Just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Also clear the fill on all the cells. If the original data was copied in with the colors in place, they will override any table colors.
One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.

Thanks dflak; that was the issue, I had put in a fill years ago before I ever converted this range to a table. Clearing the fill and applying the style did the trick!

Been there, done that. That's how I knew to make the suggestion . Half of my expertise in Excel comes from scars where it had bitten me before.

Same here, except now I hang around this forum often enough I'm learning from where others have gotten bitten.
