    hide pivot table subtotals

searching the forum, it seems it is impossible without some kind of outside scripting to stop the pivot table builder from adding subtotals where you have more than one field in either the column or row headers.

the formatting area at the top of the worksheet has a totals and subtotals choice, but the subtotals doesn't allow you to hide them or turn them off.

i finally got them to disappear by right clicking one of the subtotal columns and there was a hide option. that promptly hid all the subtotal columns (which is what i wanted to do) but i have no idea how you would turn them back on since they are gone and you can't right click them.

i see there are numerous threads about how to hide individual columns. i'm trying to find the reliable approach to hiding as i'm making about 100 tables and i would like to just be able to write the subtotal hiding right into the macro that builds the table.

if it doesn't say in my signature, i'm using 2011 on a mac.

    thanks,

    brian

    Re: hide pivot table subtotals

    Hi,

The subtotals are field dependent. So you don't need to right click on the actual subtotal column or -row but you need to rightclick the corresponding field.

If you want this in a VBA solution: take a look at this: http://blog.contextures.com/archives...ble-subtotals/
