The basic equal cell # formula does not work

In several of my Excel files, the basic "equal cell #" formula does not work. Even though the cell contains text, the text is not returned. Both cells are set up as text. All other formulas work correctly. vlookups, index matches from one tab to another aren't a problem, just the basic "equal cell #" formula. ??

You'll need to upload the workbook so that we can see your difficulty in context. Clearly identify which cell or cells aren't working and what results you expect.

Do you mean Formatted as text?

The cell with the formula needs to be General, not Text. You will probably need to re-enter the formula after changing the format.

Thanks Jason.b75. General worked, re-entered formula after changing the format. Can't believe I missed something as simple as that.
