    pivot table question

    Hello,

Is there a permanent settings in the pivot table so when i drop fields to the value section , have as default sum formula, or if I check and not drop them they to appear in the value section and not in rows ?

    Re: pivot table question

    Hi,

There is, regrettably, no setting to affect that behaviour. If all the cells in a field are numeric, then you will get a sum formula by default; otherwise you will get a count. The same will also apply to where the field is placed by default.

    Re: pivot table question

    Thank you

it appeared to me as if was random as I always pivot the same table with diferent values which are numbers and sometimes it places all the fields correctly in the values section when I tic them paired with the sum formula , other times puts them in rows when I tic them and counts, so I thought there was sth it could be done
