I'm trying to search for text on a sheet and highlight the results with a background color but I only get the message "Excel can't find the data you're searching for."
I was careful to select only 1 cell when doing the search but that didn't help. What's going wrong here?
it might not be in your sheet at all. Be sure you highlight the entire sheet, or nothing at all, as the Ctrl+F will only search the highlighted area. on your current active sheet.
It will search all cells OR only the highlighted area...So if you dont have it highlighted you are fine.
If the string you are looking for appears as a result of a formula make sure you are searching appropriately. If you look in the OPTIONS of your Find and Replace window you will see that it is by default Looking in FORMULAS Change that to VALUES - This is the highest probability of your issue resolution!
