Can anyone identify/replicate this feature (combo box)?

Hi, I made a spreadsheet years ago and cannot find a feature or how to edit the one that is in use now. I would like to replicate it in a different project. It is basically a combo box but looks like a normal cell until clicked on. I am using excel 2011 on a mac. I can copy the the cell to another workbook but have no control over it.

I have tried posting screen shots and the file.

The cell I am talking about is B35. Looks normal until clicked on, then displays little arrows which when clicked on displays a drop down list. The selection adjusts cell C49. The data range is B42:C46. Can anyone tell me if this can be replicated. I could probably make it work with a combo box but need it to look like a normal cell displaying the selected data.

    Thank you for your help.

    Thomas.

    Hi,

B35 is just a cell with a data validation list set to cells B42:B44. After setting the validation B35 has been merged with B35:E35.

C49 is just a standard LOOKUP formula that looks for the B35 value in B42:B46 and returns the corresponding value from C42:C46

Thank you very much for that Richard. Exactly what I was trying to work out.

    Cheers
