Highlighting and replacing data between spreadsheets

I have 2 spreadsheets. 1 has more columns than the other. Columns in both spread sheets contain references, dates, financials and address's.

Currently I have to manually check the data between the sheets for each corresponding reference to look for differences, line by line. Part of the reason for this, is that the location of the values is different between both sheets i.e. the value within sheet1 might be in A1 but the corresponding value in sheet2 might be in Z5.

Both sheets contain a reference which should mainly always be the same.

In short both sheets contain related data, but they are in different cell orders. If both sheets were identically layed out I would be comfortable in highlighting the differences between the 2, but im struggling when the data could be in different cells. Doing it manually is very painful.

Could someone help me with the best way to resolve this? I assume some kind of vlookup but im struggling to identify how to do it.

    Thank you

    1. It would help to see the workbook.

You get better help on your question if you add a small excel file, without confidential information.

Please also add manualy the expected result in your file.

    To Attach a File:

    1. Scroll down to the window below your post Additional Options
    2. In the frame Attach Files you will see the button Manage Attachments
    3. Click the button.
    4. A new window will open titled Manage Attachments - Excel Forum.
    5. Click the Browse... button to locate your file for uploading.
    6. This will open a new window File Upload.
    7. Once you have located the file to upload click the Open button. This window will close.
    8. You are now back in the Manage Attachments - Excel Forum window.
    9. Click the Upload button and wait until the file has uploaded.
    10. Close the window and then click Submit.
Notice my main language is not English.

I appreciate it, if you reply on my solution.
