    Comparing two sheets.

    Greetings everyone,

I have a task that I need to solve and it kinda drives me nuts, I'm a complete newbie with formulas and excel in general so I came here asking for help.

I have two sheets filled with data (contacts details), one has like 800+entries(Sheet1) and the other has 1200+(Sheet2). This sheets were the result of a CRM management program, Sheet 1 was from an old application the company was using, and Sheet 2 is the new up-to-date list. In the import/export process some data got lost or so I've been told as some contacts in Sheet 2 are missing phone, email details.
Now I need to do two thing, first to compare the two sheets and check if the contact in sheet 1 has a value for phone, email comparing it with the same contact in sheet 2. Another thing I need to do is to find the contacts that are on Sheet1 and are not existent on Sheet 2. The hard part is that they don't have an unique ID from what I can compare them, as some of them are missing unique fields like Phone, email.
I have something in mind like matching the surname and name on both sheets and see if there is any value in the email, phone cells. Also for deleting the duplicate in the first sheet I was thinking of generating an ID based on the surname and name and then compare the two sheets and delete the matching ones so at the end I will be have few contacts that didn't transferred in the export/import process and I could load them the sheet 2.

Oh dear Lord, I hope it makes sense what I'm asking, I think I need to use the Vlookup formula but how exactly to match those values its beyond me.

Thank you in advance, and my apologies if this seems like a complete madness.
    Best regards,
    Sico

Edit: I forgot to mention, I do apologies if I post this in the wrong section

    Re: Comparing two sheets.

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

Thank you for the quick reply, I did uploaded a sample file, but I haven't done any comparison between them as I don't know how exactly to do that.
    Thank you once again.

    Re: Comparing two sheets.

I would add a helper column in each sheet. Int he helper column, concatenate the first and last names. Use this helper column as your lookup value, then use vlookup or index/match to find the same value in the other sheet. I would suggest you put the helper column in column A in both sheets to ease the lookups.
