I have two columns A & B in sheet name and points. there are multiple names with their points entered. in same sheet i have another two columns M & N name(Named entered unique), i want to add the points entered in col. B. i used formula
=COUNT(INDEX(B2:B222,MATCH(M2,A2:A222)))
but it gives wrong result. could some one please help out.. thanks

Try this in N3, copied down:
=SUMIF($A$2:$A$222,M2,$B$2:$B$222)

you can use the formula AliGW offered you, and use countif instead of sumif.
I used this formula by using countif but It gives error
=countif($A$2:$A$222,L3,$I$2:$I$222)
Try this:
=COUNTIFS($A$2:$A$222,M2,$B$2:$B$222,">0")
