    Why create formulas for last month in powerpivot?

    Hello. In powerpivot why do they recommend to create formulas rather than just use built in pivot table futures (for example vs. prior period) Below is a formula for current month but it seems sort of a waste. I don't get it. Thoughts?

    :=CALCULATE([Sum Amount], FILTER(ALL(Calendar), Calendar[Year #] = MAX(Calendar[Year #])), FILTER(ALL(Calendar),Calendar[Month #] = MAX(Calendar[Month #])))

    PT's are not dynamic, they need to be updated manually, whereas formulas (generally) dont have that problem, so maybe thats the reason?
    1. Use code tags for VBA. [code] Your Code [/code] (or use the # button)
