    CSV Data connection maintaining sort

I have created a data connection to a CSV file but cannot maintain the sort after refresh. The option Preserve Column sort/filter/layout is greyed out. MS Help says it's greyed out for web connections but this is to a CSV file on my network. I've tried to create the coonection different ways but I cannot choose it as an option.

    How can I resolve?

How are you importing the file? I usually use MS-Query. It does have an option to preserve sorting and formatting, and if that isn't enough, then you can add it to the SQL statement.
One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.

Thanks. No, I was just using 'Get External Data' then 'From Text'

How would you like to be my "Napoleon's Corporal?" Attached is how to set up MS-Query to read from a text database. I've found MS-Query to be more flexible than other data import mechanisms and faster than VB Code for opening a book, copying data an closing the book. MS-Query gives you the opportunity to preserve sorting and page formatting.

If you decide you want to try it, let me know what parts of the attached don't make sense or could be clearer.
