Sorting data at a fixed time interval

    Good afternoon all,

I have a tidal data set measured at 1 second intervals. I would like to sort the data as I am only interested in the values at 5 minute intervals, from the first reading. The data set has two columns time (Column A) and tide (Column B). Any help you can give me would be much appreciated.

    Regards

    Arthur

Re: Sorting data at a fixed time interval

Do you mean that you only want to pick out the data which occurs at 5 minute increments (i.e. ignore all the other values), or do you want some average of the values which occur within the five minute intervals?

It would help if you attached a sample Excel workbook. To do this, click on Go Advanced (below the Edit Window) while you are composing a reply, then scroll down to and click on Manage Attachments and the Upload window will open. Click on Browse and navigate to (and double-click) the file icon that you want to attach, then click on Upload and Close this Window to return to the Edit window. When you have finished composing your post, click on Submit Post.

    Hope this helps.

    Pete

    Hi Pete,

That is correct, I would like to pick the data at 5 min increments and ignore the other values. I have attached an example of the data set.

I made a table of the data => insert = data

I split the date and the time.

I made a VLookup tabel to create the group.

After that a pivot table (on another sheet) with analyses of the data (sum / count / avarage).

    See the attached file.
Notice my main language is not English.

I appreciate it, if you reply on my solution.
