Getting the next time from a list based on another time?

    I have 5 times in a day that an event happens :- 02:24 04:24 08:24 12:24 16:24

I have a cell(a) that I put a time into this could be anytime from the last 48 hours

How do I display in a cell(b) the NEXT event time based on the time I put into the cell(a)

So if I put it 05:47 in cell(a)
    Cell(b) would display '08:24'

    Thanks in advance

If you have your set times in E2:E6 and your entered time in A2, put this in B2:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

It's an array formula, so enter it using Ctrl-Shift-Enter not just Enter.

I've assumed that if the time entered is later than 16:24, you want to return 02:24.
Also, if the entry is A2 isn't a number (blank or text, for example) then this will return a dash. (Times in Excel are numbers.)
You can drag this down as far as you want, if that's what you need.

Hope that does what you want.

If your problem is solved, please go to 'Thread Tools' above your first post and 'Mark this Thread as Solved'.
If you use commas as your decimal separator (1,23 instead of 1.23) then please replace commas with semi-colons in your formulae.
You don't need to give me rep if I helped, but a thank-you is nice.
