    lookup function maybe

    Hello

    I use Excel a lot for my work and timesheet. I just need a simple fomular for my timesheet. I don't know excel that well. here a basic look at my spreadsheet;

    A B
    1 6.20 OneFish
    2 8.25 CURSONS-FACTORY
    3 3.00 CURSONS-Planting
    4 3.00 CURSONS-Planting
    5 3.00 CURSONS-Planting

    All I need to do is to lookup a certain word in Colum B and take the date from Colum A, and to add all these together.

    so I have that eg cursons-planting total is 6.

    Hi

    Formula: copy to clipboard
    =SUMIFS(A:A,B:B,"Cursons-Planting")

    better still hold the word you're looking for in another cell say C1 and then

    Formula: copy to clipboard
    =SUMIFS(A:A,B:B,C1)
