    cut and paste alternate rows

    Hi

I have a spreadsheet recording marriages where row one is the groom and row two is the bride the spreadsheet covers some 60 churches so is quite large.

What I want to do is select alternate rows ie 2,4,6,8 etc etc
    copy those rows
    delete the empty rows
Paste the clipboard data to the right of the grooms information

The idea being that all the data for each marriage is in one row.

    Is this possible?

    any hints would be great

    thanks

    Ian

Re: cut and paste alternate rows

I suggest that you do something like so:

Use formula to copy bride name to right of groom as you proposed. (See column B of attached).

Next, copy/paste values only in the bride column (to get rid of the formulas).

Next, use auto filter to view "blanks" in the brides column.

Select all the filtered rows (the original bride rows), right click, and Delete Row.

    Turn off auto filter.

    Done.

Re: cut and paste alternate rows

    Hi Guys

Have to admit I'm not sure where you are coming from and what you method is and I apologise if I have confused the issue.

I've used cut and paste to create a before and after spread sheet which may make my question clearer

As I said before row one in the groom and row two the bride some details are duplicate but thats not an issue.

But over the next year or so I have around 150 spread sheets to convert with approx 500 entries in each one.

Hence I'm looking for some form of automation.

    Thanks one and all

    Ian

    What do you mean?

The formulas in sheet 'modified' does it.
