Hello,
My dates are being sorted as if they are text rather than actual dates: 1/10/2014 is being sorted before any of my 2013 dates. I've marked that I want to display the text as a date, but it's not converting. How may I fix it so that I can sort from earliest to latest date? Thank you very much!

i would remove that spreadsheet - unless its dummy data
use Text to Columns to convert to a date format
just click on the column
DATA>TEXT to COLUMNS
and use the defaults
when you get to format - click on Date format
now it will work correctly as the dates are nolonger text

if my assistance has helped, and only if you wish to , there is an "* Add Reputation" on the left hand side - you can add to my reputation here
If you have a solution to your thread - Please mark your thread solved do the following: >
Select Thread Tools-> Mark thread as Solved. To undo, select Thread Tools-> Mark thread as Unsolved.
Type a number 1 in a blank cell and copy it. Next select all the dates, right click and choose Paste Special/
In the Paste Special window choose multiply. This will convert the values to number. Now change the data Type to Short date.
You should now be able to sort as dates.
