Please find an attached example, What I am looking for is to be able to put part of a name in cell E1 and for it to highlight all the cells in the table which contain the text in E1
In the example i have had to use dummy data and have duplicated the names, but in the example Mark is in cell E1 so I would want cells C10,C12,F14,H13 all highlighting
Select the Entire Sheet and use below formula in Conditional Format
=COUNTIF(A1,"*"&$E$1&"*")

How can you use Conditional Formating.
--In Excel 2007 and 2010, Conditional Formatting is in the Styles group on the Home tab. In Excel 2003, Conditional Formatting is on the Format menu. See here how you can work using CF.
