Column autofit stopped working

Hi All.

A strange thing started happening today.

My column autofit stopped working.

I can manually drag the column separator and the selected columns will resize. I can use VBA to give a specific size. I can use the Home->Format->Column Width option to resize. But none of the autofit options work. Whether I double click the separator, use .columns.autofit in vba or use the Home->Format->Autofit Column Width option the cells do not autofit. The rows are autofitting just fine though.

I get no errors with any method. It's happening on all workbooks, including new ones. I've shutdown and restarted both Excel and Windows. Nada.

I've Googled and can't seem to find anyone describing the same problem. I'm hoping that there's a setting that's been inadvertently changed that one of you knows about.

OK. I had Windows Script Hosting Object Model checked in the Available Reference Libraries dialog in the VBEditor. Unchecking this library seemed to fix the problem. However, rechecking this library doesn't reproduce the problem so I can't be sure this is where the problem was. However, the problem is gone now but feel free to add your musings as to what was happening here. Thanks.
