Is there a ruler in excel to do this.
If no, then is it possible to write some vba code for it.

You can measure the width and height of items in a worksheet as follows:
- On the View tab, in the Workbook Views group, click Page Layout.
- Use the horizontal and vertical ruler to measure items in the worksheet (such as column width, row height, or the width and height of pages).
Is that what you want?
Well i am looking for an external ruler something like a digital scale which i can move around a sheet and measure from point A to Point B.
or if you want to find out the size of images in the active sheet, try something like:

The trouble with measuring and images is that the measurements go "out the window" if the image is re-sized. If you want to know the measurement of specific elements in the image, show a ruler in the image next to the element(s) in question.
If you have seen detective movies or TV shows where evidence is collected and you see an L shaped ruler beside the element in the picture that is to accurately show the measurement regardless of the image re-sizing.
In Excel, you can in the image properties specify a measurement for the image but that really doesn't allow any accurate measurement of elements within the image. In addition, any measurement specified in the properties is only relevant if the image isn't resized.

Hi Kevin, thanks for your answer, will try n revert
Newdoverman, i understand what u are saying, but when i am inserting the image i know the size of the product in the image, when i say i want to measure it, means when i am saying the product is 3.05 inches, i should be able to scale it as to how big it will look if its 3.05 inches on screen.
