    Control + H

    Hi guys,

I have copied my bank statement from its website to excel.

The problem here is that the transaction amounts are all shown as non-numbers but rather eg S$1,000.00 so I have to convert it to numbers for it to be useful. What I did was using Control + H to replace and get rid of all the 'S$' so that it only shows 1,000. However, I realized that all the numbers have an additional spacing behind eg 1,000_ which make it impossible to add up the numbers.

Is it possible to use Control + H or alternative methods to get rid of that additional spacing quickly rather than deleting it manually one by one?

    Many thanks in advance!!

It might be a non-breaking space character (with a code of 160), rather than a normal space (code of 32), but you can still use CTRL-H to get rid of it. Select all the cells (or just highlight that column), then Ctrl-H, then:

    Find what: Alt-0160
    Replace with: leave blank
    Click Replace All

where ALT-0160 means to hold down the Alt key and type 0160 on the numeric keypad. Or you could just copy that space from a cell and paste it into the Find What box.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks Pete!!

The Alt-0160 didn't solve it but the copy and paste space works like a charm. Many thanks for the help!!
