Using brackets to display negative values
Using brackets to display negative values
are you asking how to format a number to show a negative number using ()?
if so select the cell of column or rows you want to be formatted and then select the numbers format dialog box on the Home ribbon right below the decrease decimal button. You can then choose number or currency and you will see it gives you an option of how you want to display negative numbers as well as symbols or decimal places. choose what you like and select ok.
Select the cells that you want to format.
Right click in the selection and choose Format Cells
Click on Custom and enter in the Type box ###;(###) if you don't need the , separator for thousands
enter #,###;(#,###) if you need the comma separator.
