How can I keep a cell's contents italicized

I am compiling a database of sources for a project I'm working on and for each source the journal title needs to be italicized.

I am using a formula to make sure each citation is in the proper format and I don't know how to get the italics to carry over to the output of the formula.

    For example:
I have cell R2: Coastal Management

The output of the formula right now would be:
    Bruce, E.M. & Eliot, I.G. (2006) A spatial model for marine park zoning. Coastal Management. 34 (1). p.17-38.

But I would like it to be:
    Bruce, E.M. & Eliot, I.G. (2006) A spatial model for marine park zoning. Coastal Management. 34 (1). p.17-38.

Is there any way to do this without highlighting every single entry to italicize it??

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!!

    Welcome to the board.

There is no way to format portions of the return value of a formula.
Entia non sunt multiplicanda sine necessitate

Unfortunately, that's what I thought. I didn't know if there was any way to write a code that would get around that or not. Thank you!

You can write code to achieve the effect, but it must replace the formula with the value first, or put the result in a different cell.
