I have a table showing production of bottles. Bottles packed in cover as per the quantities shown in the table. I have 2 columns that showing how many covers consumed for that production. I don't know to explain properly. Apologies. The quotient formula works well on top of the table. but in the bottom table it dosent. Please help me.
I'll help if you start by unmerging all of the cells, and then repost the workbook. Merging cells is terrible practice in Excel

I have unscrambled your merged cells as well as I can.
I found the errors in the Yellow area and they were do mainly because the VLOOKUP values were not in order and that is necessary for the VLOOKUP using TRUE. I changed that to False (0).
After the unmerging of the cells, the ranges were no longer correct...if they were correct in the first place.

You can select all of the Production area and move it to be beside the Stock Register which will allow you to widen the column for the Operator column of the Production chart as required.
Having a little time on my hands, I amended your original formulae to work with the original merged cells. (Merged cells are horrific to work with...avoid them!)
You will see that the ranges in the formulae are quite different than the original and the column number being addressed is 9 instead of 4!
That looks like a VLOOKUP formula with 7 columns of unnecessary precedent cells, which is also something that is good to avoid. Using INDEX and MATCH would reduce the number of precedent cells by more than 77%.Originally Posted by newdoverman
