    Vlookup won't recognize formula results

My first column is a helper column that is the result of a formula. Elsewhere, I have a vlookup that looks up a value "20152" in that column. How do I tell the vlookup to look at the result of the formula in the cell, and not look at just the formula?

    Does that make sense?

    Thanks in advance

VLOOKUP will look at the result of the formula, but that might be a text value (depending on how you have written the formula), or the value 20152 that you are looking for might be text and the formula returns a proper number, in which case there is not an exact match. Post an example workbook then the problem, or the solution to it, might become a bit clearer.

Thanks, it looks like I did not put quotes around the value I was looking up.
