    multi layer Excel sheets

    Hi,

I work with large Excel files containing lots of different sheets. For some time I am wondering why it doesnt seem to be possible to group sheets. I would think about the possibility to create multiple layers instead of only one. So under layer "Holland" you would have a sheet like "Amsterdam", "Haarlem" ect..

Does anyone know if this is already possible or if Microsoft is working on something similar?

    Cheers, Pim

    Re: multi layer Excel sheets

Are you saying that if you move the sheet holland to sheet9 then Amsterdam moves to 10 and Haarlem moves to 11.

Or did you want more than that?

You can click and hold on a worksheet tab and drag it to where you want. You can even colour the tabs to make them appear to be together.Capture.JPG

If that isn't what you mean, please explain further.

    Re: multi layer Excel sheets

I think I understand what the OP means - something like this:
    Excel layered tabs suggestion.jpg

If you can't view the pic, it's something like:
    __Netherlands___________________________/__UK____________________________________/
    __Den Haag__/__Zutphen__/__Maastricht__/___Edinburgh__/__Newcastle__/__Cardiff__/

In answer the original question, however - no, it's not currently possible and I've no idea if Microsoft is working on anything like it.

    Re: multi layer Excel sheets

    Aardigspook is correct about Excel.

Even in databases that kind of "layering" or "grouping" doesn't take place but it is addressed in a way by "relational databases" where there is a common field in the tables.
