Color Coding Based on Row Sum

Hello all!

I am trying to color code a file in a specific way. I want a given row to change to a certain color if the sum of certain cells is 0. In the example file attached, you'll see *** and RACE columns. If the sum of any given row within either of those categories is 0, then I want those particular cells to fill in a certain color. Any idea how that would happen? There are examples of each being properly color coded in the document. The page in question is the the Individual Data Sheet.

Select G7:H31, Conditional Formatting>New Rule> Using Formula
=SUM($G7:$H7)=0 format as light green

Repeat for I7:L31
=SUM($I7:$L7)=0
and so on. Questions?

I tried that, and it didn't seem to like me because I wanted to apply it to the whole column. But I'll give it another shot. Thanks!
