Adding pre-text spaces to multiple lines in wrapped cell

Hi - been a while since I've needed expert help!

I have multiple wrapped lines within a single cell. I need to add three spaces to each line within the wrapped cell.

For example, in the single cell, as-is:

Residency, Utah State University, Pediatrics, 1984
    Fellowship, UTSA, Medicine, 1982

    Needs to be:

Residency, Utah State University, Pediatrics, 1984
    Fellowship, UTSA, Medicine, 1982

I know that the first line in the wrapped cell can be easily 'spaced', but I don't know how to do both lines.

    As always, thanks!

    Skoal

There's no apparent difference between the "before" and "after" examples. can you post an Excel sheet showing what you want?

Sorry - the three spaces in that second set of lines (each line) didn't appear in my first post, but hopefully I explained my need sufficiently

Thanks Glenn - should be three spaces before each line in the 'after'

Nope. Not enough yet. WHERE do you want the spaces to be added. Please attach an Excel sheet.

I can't see any difference on your post as the editor removes multiple and leading spaces, but you can use the indent facility. Select the cells where you want this effect, then right-click and choose Format Cells | Alignment tab. Then use the drop-down under Horizontal and select Left (Indent) and set your Indent value (1 will probably be enough), then OK.

    Hope this helps.

My last post and yours crossed in cyberspace. try this. Assumes data in A1.

    =" "&SUBSTITUTE(A1,CHAR(10),CHAR(10)&" ")

Make sure that there are 3 spaces between the two sets of "". The forum removes the extra spaces... as you already know!!

Re: Adding pre-text spaces to multiple lines in wrapped cell

Thanks guys. I'm not able to provide an attachment for some reason.

Pete, the indent feature works, but when i attempt (next step) to merge the 'indented' cells with another cell, the 'indented' cells do not appear indented in the new cell.

That's why I need to figure out how to 'add' three spaces before each line, as opposed to indenting three spaces.
