Cell automatically moving decimals to E-20

Hi all,

I'm using excel 2011 for Mac. When entering data, the cell automatically changes each value to xE-20. I have re-installed the current version, and after following other similar threads my cell formatting seems to be fine. Again, when opening existing files the cells are as they should be. If I delete the number in the cell and insert another, it changes to xE-20 again (so I'm sure the cell formatting isn't wrong?)

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I've spent hours following threads and researching but to no avail!

Try clearing all formatting within that cell. I don't have Excel 2011 for Mac, but should be the same.

Select the cell in question. Under the Home tab, far right there should be a Clear dropdown menu option, then click Clear Formats. Try inputting the number again.
