    Budget Planning

    Hi,

I have a list of 1200 rows, each one representing a purchase over the last year.
I now want to find out how much has been spent at each store.
I have tried sorting - but the initial part of each cell does not relate to the store, but the card that was used.
I can't go through each cell and delete this part as it would take forever!!

I would like a formula that looks down through the description column for a specific word (e.g., Tesco) and returns the value in the cell next to it.

Any help would be much appreciated!

As an after thought, if you didn't want the tables and just wanted the sum of each store then you could use Sumif with a wildcard in the same way:
