Activex Controls not Working in Excel 2007 and Excel 2003

    Hello,

Since the last few days, I am unable to use all Activex controls in Excel 2003 and Excel 2007 on my system, which is also the case with my colleagues. I can't insert objects either as it gives me "Cannot insert object." error. This is working fine in Excel 2010. Below is what I've already tried based on other forums/ websites:

    1. Removed the .exd/ temp files.
    2. Re-installed/ repaired MS Office installation.

My Excel version is MS Office Excel 2007 (12.0.4518.1014) MSO (12.0.4518.1014). Can someone please help me with this?

    Thanks,
    Dhaval Sadaiya.

Re: Activex Controls not Working in Excel 2007 and Excel 2003

    Hi dsadaiya,

I have this problem all the time using Excel 2003, with 'Active X' created on 2010. 'Active X' created in Excel 2010 does not play at all with Excel 2003. Excel 2007 may have similar problems.

The following fix works almost all the time for me using Excel 2003:
    1. Delete all the 'Active X' controls on all sheets.
    2. Create a fresh copy of each sheet that had 'Active X' controls:
    a. Make a copy of the offending sheet.
    b. Delete the original offending Sheet.
    c. Rename the copy back to the name of the original.
    3. ReCreate all the 'Active X' controls (could by very painful). I always create 'Active X' controls using a Macro, to make this step a lot easer.
