    Warning Message

    Hi there,

I wondered if someone could help me.
I have attached an example of a template that I am distributing for people to complete.
For each person / row I need only 1 of the green cells to be populated.
I am looking for a warning message to appear if two green cells have been populated on 1 row e.g. row 10 on the attached example.

    Does this make any sense?

Let me know if you have any questions, any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks everyone.
    Sam

    Re: Warning Message

    Hi,

You can use "Data Validation" for this.

    1. Select cells P3:R3
    2. Select Data -> Data Validation
    3. Validation Criteria -> Allow Custom
    4. Enter the Formula - >=COUNTA($P3:$R3)<=1
    5. Enter the "Error Alert" you want to see on the "Error Alert" tab
    6. Ok

once you complete the above steps, copy cells P3:R3 paste it down the whole range.

See the below image and attached file for more details.

    Re: Warning Message

Thank you very much for your help.
Is there anyway I can keep my dropdown box within the green cells and have the warning message or is it only 1 or the other?
    Thanks

    Ha Ha ha

I guess it's one or the other, you cannot have both!

    Re: Warning Message

    Ah I see...

Can I not link the warning message to another cell?

I've tried that already but the warning message only seems to appear once you have clicked in the cell and pressed enter?

    Re: Warning Message

I guess warning messages can be inserted only in the Data Validation window -> Error Alert page. Yes, the alert works only when you enter some details into the cell and press ENTER.
