Unable to remove Add-in in a crash drive

    Hi,

I used to have an add-in from my D drive but unfortunately, my D drive crashed. So now everytime excel starts up, it will pop the message "D:\xxxx.xla could not be found. I tried going into Add-ins options to uncheck the now-invalid add-in. When I uncheck, another message pops up "Cannot find add-in 'D:\xxxxxx.xla'. Delete from list?" I clicked ok, but everytime I open excel, I will have the same stat up error message again.... any idea how to remove the invalid Add-in which is in a drive "D" which is no longer there?

    I'm using Excel 2007 in win 7 64 bit.

    I posted a same question I found from http://excel.tips.net/T002733_Removing_Add-ins.html.

    Hi Lewis,

One of the following links may help you. If the VBA solutions don't work, you may have to remove the item from the Registry. I have not tried any of the fixes that follow, since I don't use Add-Ins:

Your post does not comply with Rule 8 of our Forum RULES. Do not crosspost your question on multiple forums without including links here to the other threads on other forums.

Cross-posting is when you post the same question in other forums on the web. The last thing you want to do is waste people's time working on an issue you have already resolved elsewhere. We prefer that you not cross-post at all, but if you do (and it's unlikely to go unnoticed), you MUST provide a link (copy the url from the address bar in your browser) to the cross-post.

Expect cross-posted questions without a link to be closed and a message will be posted by the moderator explaining why. We are here to help so help us to help you!

Read this to understand why we ask you to do this, and then please edit your first post to include links to any and all cross-posts in any other forums (not just this site).

Hi, sorry, I didn't know my question at http://excel.tips.net/T002733_Removing_Add-ins.html will conflict rule 8. Is it ok that I put the link in my original post now and delete the question from excel-tips? I thought this issue is very rare thus I was trying to ask anyone that seems to encounter similar issues..

Re: Unable to remove Add-in in a crash drive

Thanks for the link. The MS support site indicated that there shd be a list of stuffs under Add-in Manager but mine only shows default.
For the VBA links, I will need some time to read them. I'm not familiar with using VBA...

John at http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/re...-2007.3758686/ has a procedure in VBA to do something like a cleanup. But I'm not sure how to put this procedure to work. If I asked a question at PC view, will I violate rule 8? It was a 2009 solution.
