    Conditional formatting against multiple values

    Hi
    Basically I have two columns expected start date and actual start date for a number of jobs. I want to create conditional format where if the actual start is greater than the expected date it higlights the date red and if it is below or equal to it turns green. I managed to do it for one cell, but the conditions don't seem to want to drag to the corresponding cells and keeps on refeering to the original date for the first job rather than the date for that job. How can I create this format for the other cells, without conditional formatting each individual cell (there are a lot of jobs)?

    Thanks

    Re: Conditional formatting against multiple values

    Assume A1 is expected start date and B1 is actual start date

    Select A1

    Conditional Formatting
    New Rule
    Use a formula to determine...

    =(A1>B1)
    Format as red

    =(A1<=B1)
    Format as green

    Use Format painter (paintbrush icon) to copy to other cells

    Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

    Re: Conditional formatting against multiple values

    Thanks for that, relised is was me being an idiot. Every time I was using the conditional format tool in excel, it was automatically putting a $ in front of the cell in question so I couldn't format it to others. All sorted now, thanks again.
