The reason I ask is I have a spreadsheet that will do some calculations and export the results to a table. It is setup for Protocol A and I realized, rather than restrict the user to only Protocol A, allow Protocol B to also be used. Using Protocol B makes some cells unable to perform a calculation so I would need to export blank cells to my data table. I have always read that this was a poor practice but never read why. How bad is this? What problems can it cause?

I have already tried entering a text filler like "No Input", but that messes up the formulas that reference that cell/column.
