    Horse Ratings

Hi Guys I really would like some help I am trying to input horse ratings using a systematic approach I am having trouble with calculations which I am copying from a book the problem I am having is the ratings are done on a calculator, using the M+, MR, and +/-. How do I do this in excel.

For example GILDERDALE got beat by 1.5 lengths * 2.74 then = key followed by M+ then MR then +/-. Next press + enter weight 126+ class 105= 207.88. Round off.

Can anyone please help. Thank You

What values do you get in the display at each point? I can't get your end result from what (I think) you're keying in

    Re: Excel Help Needed

Hi TMS It is the Lenghths beaten which is 1.5 times the pounds per length for the course which in the example is 2.74= 4.11, then on a calculator press the M+ KEY then the MR KEY, and then the +/- KEY this brings up negate (4.11) next press plus 114 which is the horses weight in pounds + 105 which is the top official rating in the race = 214.89. SORRY got it wrong first time.

    You're welcome.

Note that normal maths precedence rules so the first 3 elements are multiplied together before the last two are added on.
