If statement on blank cell

Hello. I have an if statement as if(a1="", 1,0). A1 is empty but for some reason it is reading it as 0 (and thus returning 0). Why would this be?

If you click on the cell and hit delete does that change the answer?

Hi Ammartino44,
Remove the space between the " ", so it looks like this "".
Click the fx on the left of the formula and try both options.
" " gives the wrong answer
"" gives the right answer.
